Spring cleaning? Places in Lethbridge that could use your donations

Many Lethbridge residents want to spring clean and donate their unwanted items as summer approaches.

Cindy Giles dropped off a donation box of clothes and stated, “I wanted to find somewhere where they would actually use them there; not give them to someone who will sell it.”

Many organizations accept donations in Lethbridge, and some give back to those in dire need.

Lethbridge Shelter and Resource Centre accepts clothes and personal hygiene products and donates them to clients free of charge.

Streets Alive Mission & the YWCA Lethbridge & District share the same premise. They both need the same donations, but they also have other items.

Nancy Stuart, YWCA communications and development manager, stated that they accept gently used clothing for children and women and household items.

Remember the season if you are looking to donate.

Marie McLennan, Streets Alive Mission, said that because we don’t have enough space to store everything at all times, we change our clothes and such things seasonally.

“So, right now, we’re searching for summer wear. Shorts, reasonable tank tops, tank tops that are conservative for the ladies, and so on. This time of year, water is a significant need. Make sure you have reusable-fillable water containers.

If you want to donate to Streets Alive Mission or the YWCA, confirming that they accept items in advance is best.

Stuart stated, “We have a banner up on our website, a pin on our Facebook page, and a sign that we put up at the front. That indicates whether or not we are taking donations on any given day.”
